Paul Weel Motorsports Teaming Up With Rob MacCachren Off Road Motorsports Hall of Famer Rob MacCachren has agreed to team-up with Paul Weel in a new Mason Motorsports Gen 2 SCORE Trophy Truck. Touting the No. 11, Weel and MacCachren will take on the 58th SCORE Baja 500 in June, and the remainder of the 2026 SCORE World Desert Championship season. “I have been doing this for a very long time and I honestly do not think I have ever felt this level of excitement,” said MacCachren. “Paul has built something very special here, and I cannot wait to get behind the wheel of the Gen 2. I am grateful for this opportunity and I am ready to go to work.” “Rob brings a level of knowledge, experience and credibility that I believe will be invaluable to this program,” said Weel. “I am honored he has agreed to be part of this journey. I recently had the opportunity to test our new Gen 2 Mason Motorsport Trophy Truck and I can tell you it is an unbelievable machine. Rob has yet to get behind the wheel, which is something we are all very much looking forward to it. To all our partners who have stood by us through this challenging time, thank you. We appreciate it and are looking forward to getting back to business.” Bryce Menzies’ New Mason Gen 2 The 58th SCORE Baja 500 will have several top teams racing the Gen 2 Mason Motorsports All Wheel Drive Trophy Truck. Bryce Menzies introduced his in mid-April showcasing a new paint scheme and sponsor logos. According to Neil Mason the Gen-2 models have a three-piece machined lower control arm with an integrated 4340 steel center section, sandwiched with front and rear 70-75 aluminum legs. “This gives added weight savings and strength,” said Mason. “Overall, we have increased balance and gained an additional 1-inch of front suspension travel while keeping the driveline at optimal angles to reduce wear and tear over long races.” “The idea with the Gen 2 model was to keep the same front and rear balance of fixed weight, but to maintain that balance throughout the entirety of the fuel burn and consumption. This allows for 100% vehicle performance 100% of the time. Also allows for an extended range because we can use more fuel without compromising performance. For example, racing the entirety of the SCORE San Felipe 250 without stopping or doing the SCORE Baja 500 with one stop is now theoretically achievable. This supplies a maximum advantage to anyone competing in a Gen 2 Mason Motorsports Trophy Truck since racing competition is coming down to just seconds at most events.” SJ
