RANDY WILSON GRAND MARSHAL The Wilson Motorsports Team Leader, Honored By SCORE Journal Staff Photos by Jack Wright nMedia3 Randy Wilson, a SCORE Championship racer and the CEO of Wilson Motorsports Inc, was chosen as Grand Marshal for the King Shocks 39th SCORE San Felipe 250, and Wilson, will preside over the race festivities. The Wilson team spans three generations of family racers, starting with the family’s patriarch, Norm Wilson. He introduced the family to SCORE desert racing more than 38 years ago starting with his sons Rick, Randy and Ronny. Wilson and his three brothers began their racing careers as volunteers in 1972 at the Parker Dam 500. Their first race entry was on a motorcycle at the 1976 SCORE Parker 400. The team has since added sons Brad and Brian as the third generation of racers, and have collectively earned seven SCORE season point championships and multiple-class wins, and 30 podium finishes across various classes. As a competitor, Randy Wilson won SCORE season class point championships in 1989 and 2009, both in the unlimited Class 1 division. In the SCORE San Felipe 250, Wilson has three Class 1 victories, (1999, 2009, and 2016). He and his brother Ronny also claimed a Class 1 win in the 2016 SCORE Baja 1000. Like many desert racing families, the Wilsons started racing motorcycles and ATVs before advancing to four-wheel race cars. Over the years, the team have raced in Class 1, Class 10, SCORE Lite, Class 1/2-1600, and began their four-wheel vehicle journey in 5-1600. The Wilson family is also involved in So Cal Norm Wilson and Sons general contracting, headquartered in Long Beach, California. Norm Wilson founded NWSGC in 1982 and established Wilson Motorsports, Inc. a decade later. The Wilsons approach desert racing with a philosophy centered on fun, competition, and appreciation of the race environment. As a result, Wilson Motorsports has consistently declined title sponsorships, maintaining their iconic blue, yellow, and white livery, but are supported by long-standing sponsors, including BFGoodrich Tires, King Shocks, and Method Race Wheels.
