Although this fantasy is set in
the future, China believes that
they now have the artificial
intelligence to do just this and
stop misconducts before they
have even been committed.
This will work by
using certain
'crowd
algorithms'
along with
suspicious
behaviour
and
working
with Cloud
Walk, a facial
recognition
firm.
So, for example, if
a person went into a 'high-
risk' weapon shop, then that
would be the first indicator
that they are up to something.
If that same person then went
and bought a mask and was
hanging around the same area,
then these would all be signs
that a crime was about to
happen and the police would
go to stop this.
However, the
question has
to be asked,
is this a
great move
forward
in the
protection
of citizens.
Or is it a huge
invasion of
privacy that has
potential to increase
problems and target the wrong
people for the wrong reasons?
Only the future will be able
to tell.
