32 WINTER 2020 W HEN A COUPLE FROM PHIL ADELPHIA DECIDED to move to Beverly Farms with their two children and Labradoodles, they wanted a designer who could add a light, beachy touch to their 1920 home near the water, a former storefront with several additions that was formerly owned by Bruce Porter, author of Blow (later made into a movie starring Johnny Depp). So the couple asked a family friend for a recommendation, and they suggested Alexandra Aquadro, owner of AGA Design in Boston. "I felt the sectional was too big and would make the room feel like a movie theatre," says Aquadro, who convinced the couple they could achieve a nicer look while still providing ample seating for their son. Her solution was to install medium and large sofas accented with lots of comfy pillows. Two cube-shaped ottomans would fill out the space, along with a big, cushy armchair. Since the original paint color on the walls was a soft sea glass green, Aquadro kept the paint and then anchored the room with a driftwood and cream– colored geometric-patterned rug. "The sofas are pale tan, and the fabric on the pillows and ottomans is the same sea glass green as on the walls, with pale brown
