The Boilermakers led the na- tion in scoring that season, and just four days later scored 120 in a 44-point win over Indiana. That effort remains a scoring record for a men's team in the facility. March 7, 1987 • Lisa Jahner set a school record with 14 assists in the Boilermakers' 89-61 win over Michigan in Mackey Arena. Jahner still holds the single-season mark for assists with 201, but her single- game assists' mark was broken by MaChelle Joseph four years later. March 3, 2012 • The 21st-ranked Boilermakers took a major step toward winning their eighth Big Ten Tournament by defeating No. 9 Penn State 68-66 on a drive to the hoop by Brittany Rayburn in the semifinal round in Indianapolis. Courtney Moses led Purdue with 21 points, but it was reserve Antionette Howard's 13-point, 13-rebound performance that went a long way to delivering the victory. "I think (momentum) should carry over. We did what we needed to to- day and got the bye for the tourna- ment. I think our confidence should be high going in." Sophomore Hayden Hamby after the Boilermakers' 82-66 win over Nebraska in the regular-season finale Sunday. The Seed To Succeed Purdue 's nine Big Ten Tournament titles are more than twice as many as the next- best team, Ohio State's four. Yet, only once have the Boilermaker women been the tournament favorite (the No. 1 seed) and won it all. So if history is a teacher, don't count the Boil- ermakers out as they try to claim their 10th tour- ney crown. "They've just rallied around me," said Houser, who played four minutes against Nebraska, get- ting a surprise start and providing an emotional lift in the Mackey regular-season finale. "They want this, they have all stepped up and all want more. As soon I went down, they all said, 'We're going to get you a third ring.' "We weren't able to accom- plish that in the regular season, but we're going for a Big Ten tourney title." j Note: Purdue is seeded fourth in this year's tournament.
