GOLDANDBLACK EXPRESS • VOLUME 25, EXPRESS 12 • 36 serve them extremely tough and be extremely alert from a blocking standpoint." No. 2 Wisconsin has swept 14 of its 17 Big Ten foes since a loss to Penn State in the Big Ten opener, including its Oct. 29 tilt with Purdue at Holloway Gymnasium. "Wisconsin was a rocky start and we weren't necessarily as ready as I think we could have been for them," Jones said. "They came in with a lot more fire than they usually do when they come into our gym. I'm excited to show them how much fire we can bring into their gym and bring an excellent end to the Big Ten season." Recent history has been on Purdue's side in terms of finishing the season strong. Purdue hasn't lost on the final weekend of Big Ten play since Jones and fellow senior Val Nichol arrived in 2011 and has been able to carry that momentum into Sweet Sixteen appearances each year. Continuing the streak would go a long way for a team's morale; Pur - due's gone just 6-6 in its last 12 matches. "We're known as a team that always gets bet- ter toward the end of the season and into the tournament time," Jones said. "I think it can be a big momentum boost and confidence boost knowing everything is click- ing all at once. It can be intimidat- ing to other teams knowing you've won your last couple matches and you're a force to be reckoned with." BACK TO BACK Matt McClintock became Purdue cross country's first two- time All-American since 1950 with his 19th-place finish at the NCAA Championships Saturday. He joined Edward Holderman (1939 and 1941) and Robert Rod- ibaugh (1949 and 1950) as the only Boilermakers in school history to accomplish the feat. "I always want to do better than what I did," McClintock said. "I think there will be a day in the future when I can look back at my accomplishments and be excited, but I'm a guy that always wants to do better. "I'm going to take 10 to 12 days off and then it's onto track season." j 2014 VOLLEYBALL SCHEDULE Date Opponent Time/Result Aug. 29 USF W, 3-0^ No. 14 SAN DIEGO W, 3-0^ Aug. 30 LSU W, 3-0^ Sept. 5 vs. UNC-Asheville W, 3-0 Sept. 6 vs. Elon W, 3-0 at Kennesaw State W, 3-0 Sept. 12 vs. Austin Peay W, 3-0 at Western Kentucky L, 2-3 Sept. 13 vs. Western Michigan W, 3-1 Sept. 19 ST LOUIS L, 2-3 MOREHEAD STATE W, 3-0 Sept. 20 NOTRE DAME W, 3-0 Sept. 26 MICHIGAN W, 3-2 Sept. 27 MICHIGAN STATE W, 3-1 Oct. 3 at Rutgers W, 3-0 Oct. 5 at Maryland W, 3-1 Oct. 8 INDIANA W, 3-0 Oct. 11 at Indiana W, 3-1 Oct. 17 PENN STATE L, 2-3 Oct. 18 OHIO STATE W, 3-2 Oct. 24 at Northwestern W, 3-2 Oct. 25 at Illinois L, 1-3 Oct. 29 WISCONSIN L, 0-3 Nov. 1 MINNESOTA W, 3-0 Nov. 5 at Nebraska L, 0-3 Nov. 8 at Iowa L, 1-3 Nov. 12 MARYLAND W, 3-0 Nov. 15 NORTHWESTERN W, 3-0 Nov. 19 RUTGERS W, 3-0 Nov. 22 at Minnesoa L, 0-3 Nov. 26 at Michigan State 7 p.m. Nov. 28 at Wisconsin 8 p.m. ^ Mortar Board Premier, West Lafayette * KSU Owls Invitational, Kennesaw, Ga. # Holiday Inn University Plaza Invitational, Bowling Green, Ky. % Active Ankle Challenge, West Lafayette Purdue Annie Drews and the Boilermakers face a couple tough opponents on the road to end the year. ... all the services ... all the food ... all the comfort ... all the fun YourWindow_GoldandBlack_August10_electronic.indd 1 8/20/2010 2:26:24 PM
