April Wilson 25
G • 5-7 • Jr.
Wilson flipped the script
over the last week. After
not being able to hit a
shot for a three-game
stretch — she was 3 of
22 — Wilson found her
offense, scoring an aver-
age of 16.3 pointer per
game. Purdue needs a
third scorer, in addition to
Whitney Bays and Ashley Morrissette, and
Wilson's capable, especially if she gets into
mid-range or closer. Although in the last
three games, she also hit seven three-point-
ers. One downer: She had five turnovers in
the first half vs. Ohio State.
Ashley Morrissette 1
G • 5-9 • So.
Morrissette kept firing
away vs. Ohio State, a tack
most shooters tend to
take. And it did work out
late, as Morrissette hit the
game-tying three-pointer
with 47 seconds left. She
nearly had the game-
winner, gaining a step on
a backdoor attempt, but
her shot with 11 seconds left was blocked.
Morrissette missed 14 of her 16 attempts vs.
the Buckeyes but played all 45 minutes of
the overtime game. She had a solid game
at Minnesota, scoring 19 points with three
three-pointers.
Andreona Keys 24
5-10 • G • Fr.
Keys isn't a high volume
shooter, but she's being
efficient with the op-
portunities given. In the
last week, the freshman
scored 21 points on 18
field goal attempts, plus
she impacted the game in
other ways. Against Min-
nesota, she scored only
three, but had six assists vs. one turnover
with seven rebounds. And against Ohio
State, she had 11 points on 5-of-9 shoot-
ing, with three assists, no turnovers, four
rebounds and three steals.
Liza Clemons 23
F • 6-2 • Sr.
Lately, Clemons' impact
has been greater than
early in the season, as
she's been better offen-
sively, posting up harder
and looking for her shot.
Plus, she's getting on the
boards, having at least
nine in each of the last
three games. Purdue
needs this type of production, because it
gives the Boilermakers another scoring
option.
Whitney Bays 32
F • 6-2 • Sr. (5)
Bays has been outstand-
ing lately. The shooting
woes that plagued her
early in the year — she
was shooting only about
35 percent in the non-
conference — have gone
away, allowing her to
score in a variety of ways.
She can go inside or out,
with the ability to hit regularly from 17 feet.
And if a big wants to guard her, then she'll
drive right around. Against Ohio State, the
Buckeyes put guard Cait Craft on Bays for
the first possession, a signal that the Boiler-
maker might have a big day. She finished
with 22 points and 19 rebounds.

The
Starters
Hayden Hamby 10
G • 5-7 • Jr.
Hamby played 21 min-
utes against Nebraska,
and hit 2-of-9 shots,
but has only been on
the court a combined
12 minutes the last two
outings as Purdue has
shortened the bench
even further. To get
on the court regularly,
Hamby needs to hit shots, and during the
Big Ten, she's shooting only 23 percent
from the field, with four three-pointers in
15 attempts. Her minutes have dropped to
an average of just more than 10 per game.
Bree Horrocks 22
C • 6-5 • Fr.
Against the bigs at Min-
nesota, Horrocks had a
productive outing, with
four points and three
rebounds (and four
fouls) in 10 minutes. It's
those kind of matchups
that she's capable of
playing against. A differ-
ent story against Ohio
State, with the Buckeyes' athleticism; then,
Horrocks played only a couple of minutes.
Horrocks' development, adjusting to the
speed of the game, adding strength, is
going to be key for the Boilermakers in the
coming years.
Torrie Thornton 4
F • 6-0 • Jr.
Thornton can give an
instant impact off the
bench for the Boiler-
makers due to the en-
ergy she brings. But she
played only minimally
during the last three
games. When she's
grabbing rebounds and
using her athleticism to
defend, she's at her best.

Bridget Perry 13
F • 6-2 • So.
Perry is likely out an-
other week or two with
a high ankle sprain,
suffered earlier in the
month during at loss at
Maryland. Since then,
the Boilermakers have
won only one game, the
upset at Minnesota.
