They are now on a mission to build a school. They have packed up a van, raised some funds and are currently on route. They of course, could do with your support. Become a part of this incredible journey. They would like to say a BIG thank you to everyone that came out to the event "For The Love Of Hope" and all who donated to raise nearly £8000 so far! The team are currently on the road to Austria, on their way to Thessaloniki. We will keep you updated on their progress and bring some stories straight from team as they happen, but in the meantime, you can find out more about their plans and support them here The Hope Project is a collective aiming to help displaced children and adults in Greece with educational programmes including Maths, Science, English, Greek, Sports and Life Skills. Whilst there are informal educational programmes in the camps, the classes and quality of education is limited. The camps themselves can be unsafe for families, women and children and they are often exposed to exploitation. Hope Project will provide a safe environment where refugees can develop their skills and contribute towards the project, society and their own future. Hope Project ISSUE 93 / 2016 7 GUESTLIST Two powerful young women fron London, Elz and Tania have been to Greece 7 times this year, doing what they can when it comes to supporting refugees locked in a state of limbo in Greece. BE EXCELLENT It's easy to get out the rat race if you're bloody good at something. Not many are truly great at what they do. Excellence puts you up with the best. When you get great at things, people pay you to do them. Not average. Not so so. To be sure, become excellent at something. This in itself becomes more rewarding than money. So learn a craft, take somthing you love and put in hours and hours. Aim to be the best. Offer your services for free to practise. Start charging, then as you get better, charge more. Simple. BRINGING HOPE TO REFUGEES IN GREECE are creating a school off camp in the city centre with a specially designed curriculum including teaching important integration tools for major European countries, learning about their culture, food and basic language. There will be a safe space for families to come and relax or take a hot shower, life skills will cover everyday ad hoc tasks that will include how to open a bank account, how to enrol in schools and universities, preparing for interviews and CV writing. The exhibition 'The World is Ours to Share' alongside 'For The Love Of Hope' raised over £3000 towards the mission. If you didn't make it, don't worry! You can still get involved and do your bit! Keep an eye on Guestlist for updates and follow the journey @hopeprojectnet Homelessness, coffee and art combine in one of London's most important initiatives It was a tough morning for the UK on November 9 – most of us deeply resent Donald Trump's rise to power. Of course that's to say nothing about the dismay of every American who voted against Trump, and of everyone and everything worldwide negatively affected by Trump's victory. In protest of worldwide anxiety, I decided to plug a great London-based charity which deserves people's attention far more than a hollow, tangoed, politician- goblin. Café Art has received loads of press attention in the UK and overseas – it's a unique initiative that links homeless charities to cafes in London, getting artwork by those affected by homelessness from the hands of the homeless to the walls of the public. Café Art doesn't discriminate the quality or nature of artwork. Many cafes are involved in the project, including Camera Café, Taylor St Baristas, Madam Chi, Bloomsbury Café, Soho Coffee Club and Oliver's Village Café. You can get involved in a lot of different ways. The main way is to head to the cafes to see the art selected and exhibited by Café Art, contribute to the cafes and leave feedback online. You can volunteer with Café Art or offer your café as a venue by getting in touch online or emailing info@ cafeart.com. You can also order the Café Art 2017 calendar online, or catch it being sold at Spitalfields Art Market. WELCOME TO CAFE ART CAT RACE GOOD EGGS
