{ ARTS & CULTURE } Eye on the Arts Summer programs and events through the IFAC There has never been a better time to participate in and enjoy the visual and performing arts in Idaho Falls. During the summer enjoy free Tuesday evening concerts along the greenbelt and the Snake River Roaring Youth Jam, a free three-day youth arts festival. The Idaho Falls Arts Council (IFAC) also offers art classes for youth and adults, contemporary visual arts exhibits and gallery receptions in the beautiful Carr Gallery. Arts Alive, a regional arts newspaper, is published three times per year. The Arts Council facilitates an annual Cultural District Walk and Gallery Tour. They also own the 988-seat Colonial Theater and Willard Arts Center, which is also rented by numerous area arts organizations, including Idaho Ballet Theater’s annual Nutcracker and spring ballet, Kiwanis Teen Film Festival, Idaho Falls Community Concert Association, the Choralaires and many more. A true jewel in Idaho Falls is the Actors’ Repertory Theatre of Idaho which produces professional quality dinner theater in a wonderful historic building. They explore diverse forms of drama, with an outstand- ing commitment to excellence, profession- 22 | EAST IDAHO SUMMER FUN GUIDE 2010 alism and entertainment. If you are looking to participate in a qual- ity community musical, look no further than the Idaho Falls Youth Arts Center or Sounds Choir. Idaho Falls is also home to the Idaho Falls Symphony which provides a full classical season of concerts as well as a chamber series and Youth Symphony. The Idaho Falls Opera Theatre, produces a variety of operatic programming. Choirs include Anam Cara and the Idaho Falls A Cappella Chorus. There is also the Eastern Idaho Jazz Society, a small but growing group of jazz aficionados. The Art Museum of Eastern Idaho offers a variety of exhibits by acclaimed Idaho artists, an interactive children’s gallery, gift shop, classes and workshops. If you have young children you definitely do not want to miss the museum’s Family Days, where families can create work that ties in with the exhibits. Idaho Falls is also home to diverse com- mercial galleries including Elegance in Art, the Post Register Gallery, O.E. Bell Old School Gallery and Willowtree Gallery. These are just a few members of the Idaho Falls Gallery Association, which hosts quar- terly Art Walks. —J. BARNES
