2013-14 Women's Swimming & Diving
Schedule/Results
Despite battling a shoulder injury through the first two
months of the season, the senior has already notched
five individual wins. As the season continues, Tucker will
be looking to get healthy and make a third-consecutive
appearance at the NCAA Championships where he was
an honorable mention All-America selection in each of
the past two seasons.
His success in the pool and within the Purdue program
has set Tucker apart, in Ross's estimation.
"We want people who want to be Boilermakers," Ross
said. "With Danny Tucker, we got the right guy. He wants
to be a Boilermaker and he wants to be here. He wants
to swim at Purdue and do what we do and embody our
blue-collar mentality, and do it that way. He's as loyal a
Purdue Boilermaker as there is." j

"When we recruited him, he was not the guy we
wanted," Ross said. "Danny basically recruited us. He
came here on a scholarship (academically) and is now
on full academic scholarship and that's very rare. He's
just made the most of everything.
"He's just meant so much because he's done something that hasn't been done before as a swimmer."
For all of his accomplishments, Tucker believes that
those past successes have no bearing on the next time
he's in the pool.
"I've said it before, every race is a fresh start," Tucker
said. "As great as it was, I need to come into the season
ready to race because not everybody who will be at the
NCAAs was at the U.S. Open. There are a lot of fast people that I have yet to race."
Even so, Tucker has continued to perform well this
winter.
