This Week In Purdue History
March 13, 1980 • Purdue dominated heavily favored Indiana, knocking the Hoosiers from the NCAA
Tournament. While the final margin was just seven points, the Boil-
ermakers had leads as big as 19 in one of the more satisfying victo-
ries in Boilermaker men's hoops history. Drake Morris led all Purdue
scorers with 20 points.
March 13, 1999 • The Boilermakers began their march to the
national championship with a 68-48 win over Oral Roberts in front
of 9,160 fans in the first round of the NCAA Tournament in Mackey
Arena. Camille Cooper began her excellent play in the tourney with
a game-high 19 points.
March 10, 2007 • Purdue keeps it close in a 63-
52 loss, but drops a hard-fought contest to No. 1 Ohio
State in the Big Ten Tournament. The Buckeyes later
advance to the national championship game, while
the Boilermakers qualify for their first NCAA Tourna-
ment bid under second-year coach Matt Painter. Carl
Landry leads all scorers with 24 points, while OSU's
Greg Oden scores 17 and grabs 19 boards.
