At least for now. The 12-member NCAA Football Rules Committee voted unanimously not to send a proposal forward that would have required a 10-second delay before offenses could snap the ball, allowing defenses time to substitute. As soon as the potential rule change was proposed, it drew ire from the bulk of the coaching community. Among the 324 com- ments the rules committee received through the NCAA's web site, 74 percent were against the proposal, according to USA Today. "This was a blowback," NCAA's coordi- nator of football officiating Rogers Redding told the newspaper. "Just the number of people that commented told you this was something." The initial reason stated for the change was safety, saying that with more plays being run, players were at a greater risk of injury. next step Former Boilermaker quarterback Robert Marve signed with the CFL's Winnipeg Blue Bombers. He joins Max Hall, Brian Brohm and Drew Willy as quarterbacks currently on the roster. "I'm very excited … Truly blessed to get passed (sic) the knee injuries," Marve tweeted after sharing the news on his account last week. Hall led the team in passing last season with 1,999 yards and nine touchdowns, but he had 10 interceptions and completed only 57 percent of his passes.
