GOLDANDBLACK EXPRESS • VOLUME 25, EXPRESS 8 • 30 my playbook and learning what the other team is doing. I trust in the coaches preparation and my technique and I'll be fine." Hunte has mostly played on Purdue's kickoff coverage unit this season but even that is bet- ter than a year ago. Then, he red- shirted after his season got off to a slow start when only two weeks into training camp, he hurt his ankle, requiring surgery and rehabilitation. "I'm just thankful for the po- sition I'm in this year," he said. "Sitting out last year hurt really bad, just not being able to con- tribute. Special teams (this year) have given me some confidence, going out there and picking up the game speed. And just get- ting a feel for it. I'm blessed for every opportunity I get. "… It's not about me, it's about Purdue, it's as simple as that. It's Purdue and what I can do for my teammates and that's it." STILL DECIDING Senior linebacker Sean Rob- inson has seen players play with- out ACLs before, but he didn't sound too optimistic early this week that he'd be added to that list. Robinson "fully tore" the ACL in his right knee against Illinois on Oct. 4 and spent last week on the sideline with a headset and mentoring freshman Ja'Whaun Bentley, who replaced Robinson in the middle of the defense. It could be where Robinson spends the rest of the season. "Maybe if there were some strings hanging on (in the liga - ment), it might be a little bit dif- ferent, but that wasn't the case. So, obviously, it is what it is and it's not likely," Robinson said of him playing again. "But I'll ex- haust all my options for sure. "I'm realistic. I'm commu- nicating with (trainer) Doug (Boersma) and Coach and we're just taking it day-by-day and whatever happens happens." Robinson knew it was not good when his knee gave out while running to make a tackle during the second half against the Illini. Doctors told him soon after on the field that it likely was an ACL injury. Robinson had been having the best season of his career, registering 42 tackles this year after managing 45 all of last season. He said he's still trying to grasp his new reality. "It really didn't hit me until the (Michigan State) game came around. It was tough being on the sidelines," He said. "I'm just such an emotional person before a game anyway, and not being able to be out there was tough. But that's for everybody if they can't play, especially their senior season. But it's not the end of the world."
