Welcome to the 2015 SXSW Gaming Awards The 2015 SXSW Gaming Awards aims to create another blowout success following the example set by the inaugural show in 2014. SXSW Gaming strives to recognize the great individuals, teams, and companies that make the most impactful experiences in the industry year after year. On the evening of Saturday, March 14, please join us in honoring the finalists and winners of 21 categories exemplifying excellence in gaming. Submissions and Judging The SXSW Gaming Awards began accepting submissions in August 2014. After receiving numerous submissions, the SXSW Gaming Judges evaluated the games based on the criteria of each category and with hands-on gameplay. The finalists were announced in January 2015. SXSW Gaming Awards Emcees Janet Varney is a comedian, actor, writer and producer. She spent seven years hosting TBS's Dinner and a Movie, was a recurring character on HBO's Entourage, appeared as a series regular on the beloved E! and Yahoo series Burning Love seasons one and three, and has made guest appearances in hit shows including How I Met Your Mother, Key and Peele, Psych, Bones, on the panel of Chelsea Lately, as a regular co-host on HuffPost Live, and has appeared in films such as Still Waiting, Drillbit Taylor and Judy Moody and the Not Bummer Summer. She is also the voice for the titular character on Nickelodeon's hit series The Legend of Korra. Varney is the host of the popular Nerdist podcast The JV Club and the co-founder, creative director and producer of SF Sketchfest, the San Francisco Comedy Festival now in its 15th year. Hailing from Honolulu, Hawaii but raised in Cincinnati, Ohio and all-around pretty awesome guy, Mark Edward Fischbach, a.k.a. Markiplier, is well known in the YouTube community for his video game commentary and voiceover work. In addition to his popular video game playthrough and commentary series including Amnesia, Drunk Minecraft, SCP Containment Breach, Five Nights at Freddy's, and a series dedicated to indy horror games, Markiplier is a pioneer of livestreaming for charity. Using his YouTube and Twitch channels, he has raised approximately half of a million dollars for various charitable organizations including children's hospitals, shelters, and cancer research. Having garnered an audience of almost five million in only two and a half years, Markiplier is gaining massive attention from gamers everywhere.
