The 5-7 captain shot only 35 per- cent from the field last season, only 24 percent from three-point range, in averaging 8.9 points per game. She's working to improve; against Lithuania in Italy, that showed up, when she hit nine of her 15 attempts, including 3-of-5 three-pointers to score 25. Wilson doesn't need that kind of production every outing, but she has to at least keep opponents hon- est in their defense. "That's the biggest thing," she said, "so I have to go into every game catching the ball and being ready to shoot, even if it's not my shot but just being a threat every single time I catch the ball." Perry says she's seen a more con- sistent Wilson this preseason. "When we need that scorer at the end of the shot clock, she's going to be the person we get the ball to," Perry said. "And she's just stepped up as a leader in general at the point guard position. She's done very well. She runs our offense and everything is so organized when she's on the court. Everyone is on the same page. She's tremendously improved in her mindset, the way she plays and as a leader at point guard." Morrissette, too, needs to be more efficient. The 5-9 guard averaged 11 points last season, second to Bays' 15.1, but did so while shooting less than 36 percent from the field and 26 percent from three-point range.
