They join defensive end Tijaun Mason, who claimed an offer from North Carolina State; quarterback and legacy Griffin Alstott; offensive lineman Jylton Tusha of Florida; and versatile defensive back and satellite camp standout Mitch West as those committed to Purdue's 2017 class. Such battles are not over come June, however, as Pur- due knows as well as anyone after incurring a staggering 15 decommitments the past three recruiting classes. But for the time being, Purdue has a group of players it prioritized early committed to its cause, a foundation to build the rest of the class upon. A look at the recruiting year to come: NEEDS ALL AROUND After maxing out its scholarship space in the last class — a projected 15-to-17-man class finished up at 23 — Purdue may not have a particularly robust class this time around, but it does have a robust list of needs. Wide receiver may top that list, as Purdue stands to lose projected starters DeAngelo Yancey, Cameron Posey and Domonique Young after this season, with few currently established, known-commodity type in line to as- cend. Additionally on offense, depending on how this season plays out, Purdue may again be in the market for imme- diate-impact-type help on the offen- sive line, where it'll lose a crucial group of veterans.
