GOLD AND BLACK ILLUSTRATED VOLUME 26, ISSUE 6 8 5 Gelen Robinson: Will he or won't he? Long has Robinson been considered the potential answer for the Boilermakers' pass rushing need. But now as an upperclassman, he's got to start to turn his potential into production. Yet at the end of spring practice, the 6-foot-1, 265-pounder was a second-teamer, having fallen behind newcomer Austin Larkin. 4 Cameron Cermin: The senior offensive lineman missed the spring with a shoulder injury, but was fully ready to resume workouts by early summer. His return will bolster a line in need of veterans. But where will he line up? Could be at right tackle, where he played a majority of last season. Or maybe left, depending on Martesse Patter- son's offseason conditioning. Maybe center? 3 David Blough: The quarterback will always be watched, especially at Purdue and especially lately, where the Boilermakers have had a turnstile under center in recent years. Blough is the clear-cut No. 1 enter- ing training camp. Does he take charge early, leading the Boilermakers over the preseason to get them as ready as possible for the opener? It's in his nature. 2 Cornerback: The biggest positional question mark, one of the two cornerback spots — junior Da'Wan Hunte has earned one starting position — where Purdue is likely to rotate through several options. Even freshmen are likely to get a look, and there's little reason to think one couldn't win the job. 1 Martesse Patterson: Coach Darrell Hazell has extreme confidence in left tackle Martesse Patterson, saying that he has an "it" factor that makes him special. But to fully capitalize, the sophomore has to be in top condition, and he wasn't in the spring. If he isn't in the fall, then it could set off a series of adjustments on the O-line, none of which Purdue wants to make. — Kyle Charters T O P Players To Watch In Training Camp ?
