Scuba takes the reigns of XOYO's residency from
2016
XOYO's residency scheme was a chance
for the club to remind London clubbers
of the importance of resident DJs. For 12
weeks they invite an artist to inject the club
with their sound every Saturday. Aside
from just performing regularly, they will
also curate each week's line-up with artists
they have hand-picked. So with each new
residency a unique style will dominate
the club for those few months. The series
has gone down a storm and clubbers
have been treated to a variety of wicked
artists over the past two years including
Eats Everything, Skream and the current
resident, Busy P.
As Busy P's residency finishes up in the
New Year, it's time for a new resident to
take over and this time XOYO are ready to
dose us up with 12 weeks of techno. Who
better to head up this venture then the
Hotflush boss Scuba? Over the years he
has constantly changed and evolved his
style. He's come a long way from his early
dubstep days but his constant reinvention
has kept him one step ahead of the rest.
Scuba is now one of Europe's finest DJs
and his label Hotflush one of techno's best
imprints right now with a tight artist roster,
so he's the perfect candidate to head
XOYO's techno stint.
Over the three months Scuba has enlisted
an intense mix of artists to support him
of the decks, together they'll cover all of
techno's twisted and disorienting corners.
Scuba states that "techno means many
different things to different people and
there's a really wide spectrum to the music.
So when thinking about the guests I wanted
to be as ranging as possible within that
techno parameter and put together line ups
that cover the full variety of what techno
means to people". He has pulled that off
with the inclusions of Nina Kraviz, Deetron,
Len Faki and Shackleton, who make up just
a few from the wide spectrum of names
announced.
This lastest season looks to be one of the
most intense yet, with a strict focus on
techno it'll take us through from January
9th till March 26th.
