40 Issue 82 / 2015 DNB guestlist.net He's starting to make himself a reputation for being the drum & bass funny man, with a series of hilarious tweets and videos making the rounds on social media. Sitting together with the usual DJ promo shit, he posts comical updates about life, the kind that make you remember that he is just a regular guy like everyone else. Rene LaVice has climbed up the ranks of Ram Records since his first appearance on the label in 2012. He's recently released his second album, Play With Fire where he exercises his heavy hitting style perfectly. Regardless of you liking the music, a great follow none the less. Cause for celebration right? Ministry think so and to amplify their parties (quite literally) they'll be installing 60 new speakers on top of their already impressive sound system. Working with Dolby Laboratories the new speakers will be fitted across the club with bespoke lighting to get us fully immersed in the moment. They're calling it a multidimensional, immersive, sound experience - more commonly known as massive parties. Using this unrivalled system first will be South London's best, Hospital Records, on January 28th. They have called in label boss London Elektricity to perform along with Reso and TC. They'll all be rinsing it out on Ministry's new party machine after being locked away in the studio remastering their music especially for this event. Also there on the night using their regular system will be Hazard, Phace, Fabio and more! It will no doubt blow our minds, and that's just the DJs, this new system will change clubbing at Ministry so good news this is the first of many events at the club. 'Broken Man' is reminiscent of Goldie's past productions - taking the sound back to the core and focusing more on invoking emotions than trashing clubs. Throughout the record he works a variety of sounds, from mellow guitars riffs to a more relaxed drum beat, whilst the vocals, supplied by Kwabs, adds a sense of spiritualism. His powerful voice lies perfectly atop this song. On the flip side, there's a version that's been reworked by Ivy Lab member, Halogenix. He turns this song from Goldie into a club track, speeding it up slightly and reworking the drum pattern into a more familiar formula.
