46 INDIE / ROCK guestlist.net Issue 82 / 2015 Before her tour of the UK, Lissie shares 'Don't You Give Up On Me', the first single from her forthcoming third album My Wild West. The new record, her most personal effort to date, is a celebration of new adventures to come as Lissie moves back to the Midwest and waves goodbye to her life in California. Going back to her roots in more ways than one, Lissie has returned to touring as a solo act – selling out London's Union Chapel in 24 hours without any fanfare, she will play across the country next month and has also announced a further London date for Feb 2016. Artist Of the MOnth Lissie The singer/songwriter is ready to return to our shores Recorded at iconic film director Stanley Kubrick's estate, 'The Greatest Show on Earth' is a 15 minute long testament to not just the genius but the determination of Leonard. "It began as an improvised idea and the whole 15 minute track was recorded in one complete take, totally live. It was stream of conscious explosion, a sort of cardiac truth attack" says Leonard. Having spent a childhood living between Ireland, USA and London, Kieran was influenced by a myriad of writers and painters as well as Bob Dylan, The Beatles and Radiohead. Leonard's first ever single 'Jerusalem' was also used in the soundtrack to Ridley Scott's film Life in a Day and he went on to compose songs for the Universal blockbuster Get Him to the Greek starring Russell Brand. This affirms the diversity of his gift as a songsmith. Leonard's journey has taken him to share the stage with such stalwarts as Bob Dylan, The Strokes and Beck as well as a US tour with Wolfmother and UK and European tours with The Libertines, Ryan Adams and Father John Misty. Leonard's music spurns the concept of genre categorisation, choosing to pen about an extraordinarily wide range of subjects with a humour and understanding virtually unheard of in the current climate. Punk London is a yearlong celebration of 40 years of the genre and subversive culture. Various events will be going on across 2016 all over the city as part of the anniversary, and it all kicks off with Resolution Festival, running from 4-14th January at The 100 Club. As well as an exclusive show by Sir Tom Baker, you can catch the likes of The Members, The Outcasts, 999, Anti- Nowhere League, GBH, The Ramonas, Discharge, English Dogs Band and many more still to be announced.
