10 ISSUE 104 / 2017 GUESTLIST YOUR SURVIVAL GUIDE TO LIFE FOLLOW @GUESTLISTDOTNET Paul Wheelhouse, the Scottish Energy Minister, told MSPs that allowing fracking would undermine the government's ambitions to deeply cut Scotland's climate emissions and would lead to unjustifiable environmental damage. The public consultation on fracking attracted more than 65,000 responses, with about 65% of those responses coming from areas of former coal mining communities that had been targeted by the fracking industry. Of those communities a staggering 99% of respondents opposed it. Fracking is a technique to get natural gas and oil from shale rock. The process includes drilling down deep into shale rock and then injecting it with a mixture of water, sand and chemical at high pressure. This forces open existing cracks in the rock, allowing for gas or oil to be released and collected. This process is being passed off by the oil and gas industry as a safe and clean energy but there are reasons that there is such strong opposition to it. There are serious concerns not just to the impact on the environment where the drilling has been linked to small earthquakes, but also to people's health. In a move that's been celebrated by the public and campaigners alike, the Scottish government has banned fracking. A WIN FOR THE ENVIRONMENT, SCOTLAND BANS FRACKING! So here are 3 steps you can take to have a more relaxing Christmas. 1. DON'T ATTEMPT TO HOST CHRISTMAS YOURSELF, GO TO YOUR PARENTS You won't have to worry about cooking vegetables and getting a turkey on time. Most probably there will be an endless supply of free alcohol, even if it is mulled wine, it will do the trick. Plus no one is too old for presents, let them pamper you. Washing up is no great fee to show your gratitude. 2. ORDER ONLINE Plan ahead, make the most out of next-day delivery nice and early, before the rush starts. Also, mentally prepare yourself that the items you buy will most definitely be reduced in the Boxing Day Sales. However, make the most of these sales by being super prepared and buying next years' Christmas presents early. 3. DON'T WORRY ABOUT LOSING WEIGHT Eat as much as you like, you can worry about losing the weight in January (gyms have the best deals then anyway). Filling your stomach, guilt-free is a big part of the Christmas tradition. After all, you experience a higher rate of relaxation when you lay on the sofa in your food coma. STAY STRESS FREE THIS CHRISTMAS WITH THESE TOP 3 TIPS To a lot of people, Christmas is one of the most stressful times of the year. Dealing with the dropping temperatures, spending time with extended family members, trying to not put on too much weight, I could go on.
