Despite the new rules, the Boilermakers were whistled for just 33 fouls in the first two games of the year. Despite posting the most points by a Purdue squad in 16 years, some of the story in the win over Central Connecticut was the defensive job the Boilermakers did on Kyle Vinales, the Blue Devils' prolific scoring guard. Here, Sterling Carter fights through a screen. Vinales scored 22 points but took 21 shots to do it and most of his points came later in the game. Errick Peck saved the day for the Boilermakers by hitting this three-pointer to cut the Norse lead to one point with 50 seconds left. Ronnie Johnson's two free throws 37 seconds later were just enough to get Purdue over the hump. Terone Johnson fires up his teammates as they ready to open the season against Northern Kentucky. The senior battled back from a sub-par offensive effort in the season opener to hit 7-of-9 shots and score 17 points in just 16 minutes in the win over Central Connecticut State.
