There's A Lot On The Line(s)

s training camp came to a close,
there was much ado about whom
Darrell Hazell was going to tab to
quarterback the Boilermakers in 2014.
But when Danny Etling was named
the starter back on Aug. 18, it wasn't
any great surprise. Backup Austin
Appleby might have been slightly bet-
ter than Etling in training camp, but
not enough so to unseat the incum-
bent in the most visible position on
the field.
But whether it is Etling
or Appleby or someone
else leading the charge
from behind center in
2014, it won't matter much if the three
guys (from left Jordan Roos, Robert
Kugler and Jason King) in the fore-
ground of the picture can't get their
job done. Actually, it will take all five on
the line of scrimmage performing at a
high level to provide the protection nec-
essary for the Boilermakers to do what
