Wide Receiver
1. Danny Anthrop 33
6-0, 191, Jr.
17 rec., 313 yards, 2 TDs*
The drops that troubled
Anthrop in the spring were
seemingly cleaned up in the
fall, although the wide receiver
group as a whole suffered too many. Typical
backup Cameron Posey is out for the Western
Michigan game for a violation of a team rule,
per Darrell Hazell.
2. Trae Hart 15
5-10, 157, Fr.
Quarterback
1. Danny Etling 5
6-2, 218, So.
149-of-267 for 1,690 yards,
10 TDs / 7 int.*
Etling has seven games of
starting experience, but never
for a Game 1. It might include
a bit more pressure, because Purdue wants – it
needs – to get off to a good start this season.
For the Boilermakers to do so, Etling needs to
play well.
2. Austin Appleby 12
6-5, 229, So.
Running Back
1. Raheem Mostert 8
5-11, 190, Sr.
11 rushes, 37 yards*
1 rec., six yards*
Mostert finally gets a crack at
being the Boilermakers' No.
1 running back. In camp, he
showed breakaway ability, but can he pick up
short yardage when Purdue needs it most?
That'll be the question for not only Mostert,
but Hunt and the rest of the RBs as well.
2. Akeem Hunt 1
5-9, 183, Sr.
Center
1. Robert Kugler 57
6-3, 298, Jr.
Kugler might get a series break
on Saturday, as Darrell Hazell
listed Barron as a freshman
who is likely to play against
Western Michigan. That said,
it'll be hard to get Kugler off the field long; he's
Purdue's best lineman, a captain and leader.
2. Kirk Barron 53
6-3, 305, Fr.
Right Guard
1. Jordan Roos 70
6-4, 312, So.
Roos has been challenged a
couple times for his starting
position, first by Cermin in
the spring then by Clements
during camp. But he won out.
Purdue would still like him to
play lower to the ground, using his leverage to
shove defenders out. Clements is raw and a bit
slower than ideal, but he's big, no doubt.
2. Corey Clements 71
6-8, 400, Jr.
Right Tackle
1. J.J. Prince 73
6-6, 302, So.
Right tackle was a big ques-
tion in the spring, one that
Prince seemed to have an
answer for. But his true test will
come Saturday, when he gets
his first career start. Purdue has expressed con-
fidence and he's taken nearly all – if not all – of
the first-team snaps during the last month.
2. Joey Warburg 77
6-5, 289, So.
Wide Receiver
1. B.J. Knauf 83
5-10, 187, So.
14 rec., 136 yards, 1 TD*
14 rushes, 92 yards, 1 TD*
As soon as Knauf was healthy
again – he had sat the first
portion of camp because of
a lingering head injury – he was back in the
starting rotation. He gives Purdue an added
dimension on the outside, a quick player who
can elude defenders after the catch.
2. Danny Anthrop 33
6-0, 191, Jr.
Wide Receiver
1. DeAngelo Yancey 7
6-2, 218, So.
32 rec., 546 yards, 2 TDs*
Yancey appeared to take a
step forward during the latter
part of camp, perhaps because
of the push he got from
Phillips, an impressive fresh-
man who will play Saturday. But Yancey has to
be able to beat one-on-one coverage because
Purdue's scheme is designed to get him into
such situations.
2. Gregory Phillips 13
6-0, 190, Fr.
Tight End
1. Gabe Holmes 86
6-5, 258, Sr.
9 rec., 69 yards*
Holmes has reclaimed the
starting tight end position. But
that might be only semantics;
as many as two tight ends
might start Saturday, depend-
ing on first-snap formation. And Purdue has
three good ones, in Sinz and Dolapo Macarthy.
How will John Shoop get all three involved?
It'll be interesting to watch.
2. Justin Sinz 84
6-4, 249, Sr. (5)
Left Tackle
1. Cameron Cermin 66
6-5, 303, So.
Cermin's elevation to start-
ing left tackle early in camp
seemed to help solidify the
entire offensive line. But he'll
be tested Saturday, when he
gets his first game snaps of
any sort as a Boilermaker. DeBoef, the backup,
had held the starting spot but wasn't able to
secure it.
2. Jack DeBoef 54
6-7, 290, Sr. (5)
Left Guard
1. Jason King 72
6-3, 309, So.
King could be an All-Big Ten
type of player in this career,
perhaps as soon as this season.
He's already good, Purdue
thinks, as only a sophomore.
But the drop off after him is
steep and experience plays a part. DeBoef
hasn't played on Saturdays and Martesse
Patterson is only a true freshman.

6-7, 290, Sr. (5)
