GOLDANDBLACK EXPRESS • VOLUME 25, EXPRESS 1 • 34 tered the program in 2012. "We can put different people in different positions and come out with a win," Neill said. "We've been working on that in practice and we know it's important." The quality of Purdue's op- ponents this weekend may not allow Shondell to mix-and-match lineups as freely as non-confer- ence tournaments in Kennesaw, Ga., and Bowling Green, Ky., in September. "I learned a long time ago if you put one lineup on the floor and you win with that, you're pret- ty wise if you go back to the same lineup," Shondell said. "But that doesn't mean we're not going to change things as we go. There's some freshmen who I want to get on the floor that need that time." Shondell said he plans to red- shirt three or four freshmen, includ- ing two or three defensive special- ists and one or two frontline play- ers. "At this point in the season, it's too early to tell," Shondell said. "We've been here two weeks and we have to be ready to play and make decisions on red- shirting, and we don't even know who can play for us and who can't. It makes it diffi- cult on coaching. It will probably be something that develops as the season goes on." No matter who is on the floor, Neill said the Boilermakers will come out ready. "The competitiveness on the court should be high," Neill said. "It's been high throughout prac- tice, and I know it will rise playing someone else."
