GOLDANDBLACK EXPRESS • VOLUME 25, EXPRESS 1 • 28 BY BRIAN NEUBERT BNeubert@GoldandBlack.com OFFENSIVE LINEMAN COMMITS As soon as Purdue offered local offensive lineman Peyton Truitt in June — he'd stuck out at the Boilermakers' camp a few weeks earlier — it was pretty apparent how his re- cruitment would play out. But it wasn't quite so simple, as the West Lafayette High School standout had previ- ously committed to Miami (Ohio), which he did not take lightly. In the end, though, af- ter multiple visits to Purdue during training camp, Truitt decided on the Boilermak- ers, committing to Darrell Hazell Sunday afternoon. "Purdue's home," Truitt said. "It's been my home for 18 years. My family is three generations on both sides Purdue grads, so it's been part of my life the entire time. It's nice to be home. "I love the coaches. The coaching staff is great. I love Coach Hazell, Coach (John) Shoop and Coach (Jim Bridge) and am really excited to learn from Coach Bridge specifically. From an offensive line standpoint, he's re - ally going to help me grow as a player. Also, the school is great for what I want to study, supply chain management. Purdue has an excellent program for that. And then there's just the atmosphere in West Lafayette. I've lived here 18 years and love it. It's home." Truitt, 6-foot-5, 297 pounds, will play either tackle or guard for Purdue. "They think I'm nasty, big and tough," Truitt said. "I'm looking forward to showing off those traits on the football field for West Lafayette this year, then in Ross-Ade (Stadium) for the next four or five years." ELITE CAMP REVIEW Purdue's annual men's basketball elite camp drew an- other talent-rich field to West Lafayette on Saturday, a group led by 2016 center targets Bar- ret Benson and Joey Brunk, each of whom hold Boiler- maker offers and have been on campus numerous times each now.
