The Purdue-Oregon matchup in 2008, which was decided in overtime, lasted 3:50. Last year, there was a concerted effort by NCAA officials to speed up the game. In a d d i t i o n , G r i g g s also be- came just the eighth kicker in P u r d u e history to make a field goal of over 50 yards (it was the 17th overall) as his 51-yarder tied for the sixth lon- gest in school annals. He also joined Wiggs ('09 vs. Ohio State, '11 vs. Middle Tennes- see), Ben Jones ('04 at Penn State) and Chris Summers ('07 at Penn State) as the only kickers in school histo- ry to make field goals of over 50 and 40 yards in the same game.
