Volleyball coach Dave Shondell
gave a passionate speech prior
to introducing "Shout!" Shondell
used all his vocal cords, it seemed,
but had enough left to lead his
team to a Mortar Board Purdue
Premiere title and a 3-0 win over
LSU just hours later.
Sophomore B.J. Knauf,
speaking with suspended
receiver Cameron Posey,
tied a career best with four
receptions and established
a career standard with 52
receiving yards.
The Purdue secondary did an excellent job slowing down Western Michigan's
standout sophomore receiver Corey Davis, limiting him to four catches and a
long play of 14 yards. Davis did have a touchdown.
Hazell's son Kyle came down to the field with about four minutes to play
and got the chance to celebrate the victory and sing "Hail Purdue" in
front of the student section.
Kyle is an eighth grader
at West Lafayette Jr./Sr.
High School.
