Early mistakes doom Purdue

Purdue was able to cre-
ate more negative plays
in Week 2 with six tack-
les for loss and three
sacks, though less than
a third of those plays
came from the front
line. Safety Frankie
Williams got low on
CMU receiver Jesse Kroll
after a one-yard recep-
tion in the first quarter,
and defensive linemen
Ryan Russell (99) and
Ra'Zahn Howard came
to assist.
Tight end Dolapo Macarthy surpassed his 2013 season reception total in Week 2, grabbing three
balls for 33 yards in the fourth quarter. He had only one catch last season.
While there was no free ticket giveaway for students this week, those that attend-
ed were enthusiastic, especially for the traditional shaking of the car keys prior to
kickoff.
Danny Etling had the longest rush
by a Purdue quarterback since Caleb
TerBush ran for 41 yards at Michigan
in 2011 by finishing this 27-yarder
with a slide in the third quarter. Etling
had 50 yards rushing in the game,
only three yards shy of being Purdue's
leading rusher.
