EASTERN WHARF On Port Street, north of East President Street At the eastern end of downtown, Eastern Wharf offers beautiful views of the Savannah River, whether from the Riverwalk pedestrian walkway or up on high from Bar Julian, the rooftop bar at the modern and always-bustling Thompson Hotel. Eastern Wharf is equal parts attraction and neighborhood, with new homes and townhomes (all with enviable views) currently in development. If you're lucky, you can catch an open-air concert in the spacious, amphitheater-type space that skirts the river. ALSO IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD Syd Nichole: Stop in to browse the boutique, join one of the interactive workshops or commission contemporary fl oral designs for a wedding or other special events. 301 PASSAGE WAY Fleeting: Playing on the ephemeral, this upscale restaurant is all about sourcing the freshest, most in-season local ingredients possible. 201 PORT ST. Stevedore Bakery: Pastries, loaves and a good, strong cup of coffee is the perfect start to any day at this modern bakery that sources bread products for neighbors Bar Julian and Fleeting. 402 PASSAGE WAY THE CANAL DISTRICT West of Downtown and the Martin Luther King Jr. Corridor Just west of downtown, Savannah's Canal District is a vibrant hub of entertainment and culture, featuring the new Enmarket Arena, where residents and visitors can enjoy thrilling concerts and sporting events from teams like the newly minted Savannah Ghost Pirates ice hockey team.
