PUBLIC FISHING PIERS Cast your line at one of the three public fi shing piers: Lazare o Creek Pier, Fisherman's Walk at Back River Beach and the Tybee Island Pier and Pavilion. Although it's free to fi sh from the piers, a Georgia fi shing license is required. Licenses can be purchased online at the Georgia Department of Natural Resources Wildlife Resource Division (or call or 800.366.2661) or in-person at Chu's Convenience Mart on North Campbell Avenue. In addi on, a free SIP (Saltwater Informa on Program) permit is required for fi shing in saltwater. FISHING SUPPLIES Need to rent supplies for a few hours? There are shops where you can purchase bait, tackle, ice, rods and reels, though a fi shing charter comes with the convenience of a boat and a local fi sherman's knowledge. LOCAL CATCH OF THE DAY Reel in red drum, black drum, mackerel, s ngray, bass, fl ounder, speckled trout and shellcrackers. When your cooler has been fi lled, head to one of several restaurants where they will cook your catch.
