24 Issue 79 / 2015 HOUSE/ TECHNO guestlist.net Greek house and techno talent Argy steps up a gear with an EP on Bedrock News Percolate is ready to Party Percolate is infamously nomadic, switching up its venues so as to always stay fresh, and it will continue to spread its unique sense of musical style across London and beyond. Percolate will celebrate three years of singular sessions later this year, and have a healthy selection of events in the works that cater to even the most discerning of clubbers. There are many highlights to pick over this season, including an all-night session with Leon Vynehall at Studio Spaces, a Halloween special with Mad Ferret featuring Moodymann, and an NYE party with Levon Vincent. It's shaping up to be quite a season! The cult party brand has lined up its biggest ever season Argy debuts on John Digweed's long-running and influential label with Belen/Alfredo that's been doing some damage out on the White Isle this summer. He has long been turning out cultured house and techno with a classical bent on labels like Cocoon, Cadenza, Ibadan, Objektivity or his own label These Days. A thinking man's DJ and producer, he has played all over the world, has been a regular at Sankeys Ibiza this summer and is as skilled at crafting albums as he is club-owning 12"s. 'Belen' is an epic seven minute workout that grows in stature as it unfolds. Spine tingling melodies swell above sweeping pads, rubber kicks and icy hi-hats. It is a smooth and serene track that cannot fail to caputre whole dance floors as it rumbles on, right on the cusp between house and techno. Then comes 'Alfredo', a more percussive work out but still one resplendent with rich chords and airy pads. Big, loose fingered piano chords dominate this one as they jangle above the mildly euphoric drum line and gallivanting kicks. Epic and impossible to ignore, this is a pair of tracks that fit perfectly with the Bedrock canon as well as bringing something fresh to the label.
