25 Issue 79 / 2015 HOUSE/ TECHNO guestlist.net Seth troxler'S Acid Future It was 303 wobbles and bleeps driving the crowd crazy as Tobacco Dock welcomed in Seth Troxler and his celebration of acid house – Acid Future The historic venue played host to the historic genre that has shaped the scene in the UK since the late 80s/early 90s. Seth wanted to hold a great celebration of the wobbly genre and brought with him a huge line-up featuring some of todays finest alongside so true veterans of the scene. Skream, Cab Drivers, Jackmaster, Marshall Jefferson and many others joined Troxler who played b2b with The Martinez Brothers in a day fiesta that reminded us of acid's importance, not just here in London but across the world. The varied spaces across the19th century warehouse, including the Great Gallery and the infamous car park, welcomed a wonderfully mixed crowd - older people who had lived acid house the first time round and the younger generation drawn in by the music, DJs and promise of a good time. By 3 the car park was little more than a sweat box thanks to the midsummer heat, where bugged-eyed ravers wore as little as socially acceptable to try a keep cool during Skream's extended set. Fortunately the rooftop car park was converted to a sort of BBQ/ bar where Seth's Smokey Tails cooked up a storm with a range of wicked meals to refuel yourselves, though most of it didn't last very long! That combined with a mix of great cocktails and the views over London made it the perfect place to enjoy the August sun. Whilst many cooled off upstairs, some took the time to pack out the little gallery for old skool legends Cab Drivers. Their onslaught destroyed the room with young girls dancing alongside middle aged men, the kind of no boundaries crowd we associate with acid house and its raves back in the day, all beneath a vast ceiling of disco balls. As day turned to night, the Great Gallery erupted as Marshall Jefferson took to the decks and delivered an incredible set filled to the brim with classics, including Rhythim Is Rhythim's 'Strings of Life' and his classic 'Move Your Body'. The uplifting atmosphere and his feel good beats went hand in hand with the Gallery's impressive light show, which only raised the mood of the packed room. It all seemed to happen so fast, as all of a sudden back down deep in the car park, Seth Troxler played b2b with Craig Richards closing what was a great celebration of acid in all its strange and destabilising forms. 303's wobbled across the venue all day and the crowds couldn't get enough. Thankfully Fabric took us from late night till early morning with their offical afterparty, which featured many of the big names of the day as well as some added bonuses, like Recondite live. Seth certainly knows how to throw a party, celebrating the genre that shaped a scene. There's nothing more to say except that acid is well and truly back.
