MC Mota Angel Field Dawn Wall Here's the DnB on our playlist this month: PLAyList Point of Origin is a new venture from drum & bass heavyweights, Shogun Audio It's a new compilation series from the warriors of all things heavy and dark. Following on from the success of their last series Way of the Warrior, Shogun this time have created a series with a major difference - the artists who are included. This time the tracks are coming from little known names as opposed to those heavyweight names we usually associate with the imprint. Entitled Point of Origin, the new series will shift the attention to what the label have dubbed "the rising stars of drum & bass from across the musical horizon". Point of Origin's first volume will drop on the 11th September and features 13 exclusive tracks from new and upcoming artists. There a few familiar names like Ed:it, Voltage and Zero-T making appearances but most of the focus is on the newer names like Caleco and Nickbee. These are fresh faces of drum & bass who have tried their luck and sent their demo's to Shogun HQ - sometimes it's worth the risk! The new series is "providing a springboard" for "some of the most exciting new producers plucked from the plethora of brand new music" they have received. Anything released by this label is worth a listen and Shogun are quick to tell us this album spans "ferocious big room beats to sultry summertime rollers", so this compilation will in no doubt be any different. Wickaman and Mavrik have collaborated on Jungle Strikes latest instalment and created a bootleg of absolute jungle madness. 'The Break Goes On' has injected a lethal dose of rusty percussion into The All Seeing I's classic 'The Beat Goes On'. The hyperactive jungle edit of the track does not disappoint: it's sharp, energetic and sounds as fresh as ever. It's the latest DJ weapon provided by the new label Jungle Strikes, who fully focus on tracks for the floor. You'd never be able to guess that it's only their fourth release!
