Guestlist Recommends Foundation X 44 Issue 79 / 2015 DNB guestlist.net uKF london The UKF crew are back in London town A label first set up by Skitty in 2009 has launched with amazing results An endless steam of jungle has been rattling out of this label all year. Bare basslines and ruthless percussion loops is the killer combination that Skitty and the Foundation X crew have perfected. They supply a hefty dose of broken beats with each new release, which is just as well as their primary aim is to deliver "raw, undiluated, ruffneck junglism" to the masses. And deliver they do, by taking jungle back to the roots, stripped back and bare. UKF have had a massive 2015, hitting everywhere from Goa to Argentina, Exit Festival to Sea Dance, and on September 25th, they're back on home soil to kick off their UK tour. Taking over Building Six, the only London venue with a soundsystem built into the floor, the line-up spans the full spectrum of bass music - Sub Focus, Cause & Affect, Dimension, Dub Phizix, Flava D, Joker Live, Memtrix, Ownglow, SH?M, and Teddy Killerz are all ready to drop big beats all night long. album oF the month hospital RecoRds - Fast JunGle music South London's elite drum & bass crew drop the Fast Jungle Music compilation. 1996 was the year that Tony Colman and Chris Goss founded Hospital Records as a way to release their own music. Fast forward 19 years and it is now one of drum & bass' most important and influential labels with a strong artist roster, including High Contrast, Netsky, Nu:Tone, Camo & Krooked, and Danny Byrd. Over the years Hospital have developed a robust staple sound for the label, which of course have deep influences from jungle. Those jungle sways are what their latest compilation is centred on. Fast Jungle Music is a celebration of the label's love for all things jungle. It features 46 tracks from the Hospital and Med School back catalogues, all mixed by Hospital Records' veteran Nu:Tone. Its all killer no filler with a number of classic tracks, some re-mastered, alongside modern day bangers. As you can imagine the names gracing the track list are huge, ranging from true Hospital legends like High Contrast and Danny Byrd to some of the newer names like S.P.Y and Anile. Nu:Tone is up on mixing duties and executes the job perfectly. He keeps up the pace throughout the two mixes, chopping and changing through some truly uplifting vocal tracks to bolder and darker basslines rounded off with a hefty dose of broken beats. The strong tracklisting bursting with massive records only serves to remind us of the impact Hospital has on jungle.
