Icarus - rIde ThIs TraIn The Bristol duo follow up their excellent Don't Cry Wolf EP Musically nodding towards Tourist and Chet Faker with vocals reminiscent of early Sting, NKOSI boast an alternative, chill house sound, laced with melodies that wouldn't sound out of place on a Friendly Fires record. The duo is made up of vocalist Echoboyy and Dave Sherman, east-coast natives who moved to LA. 'White Gold' demonstrates razor-sharp vocal delivery from Echoboyy over Dave Sherman's sampled-guitar technique. In fact, every instrument you can hear comes from Sherman alone. Creating new wave electronic dance music with an emphasis on intricate, melodic vocals NKOSI have found their niche. 'White Gold' is the first single to come from American duo NKOSI Compilation number seven is mixed by Jody Wisternoff and James Grant Ones TO WaTch nKOsI l MOffa albuM Of The MOnTh anjunadeep VOluMe 7 Dedicated to deep and emotive electronic music, Anjunadeep holds a unique position in the modern dance music world, championing music heard on the huge stages of Coachella and EDC to the intimate dancefloors of Europe and everywhere in between. The seventh installment of their acclaimed iTunes Dance Chart- topping series sees Anjunadeep showcase the label's sound across two discs of cinematic house, techno and electronica, taking the listener on a sprawling journey through the deeper waters of electronic music. The first part of the double mix kicks off with beautiful electronica from label favourites and new faces alike such as Esteble, Dems, Solomon Grey, Jody Wisternoff and 16 Bit Lolitas, before burning slowly through exclusive new tracks from Yotto, Lancelot and Lane 8. Disc 1 closes with deep gems from label stalwarts Kahwe, John Monkman and Vincenzo. Part 2 of the compilation moves is a sublime showcase of the labels deep dancefloor sound, beginning with gentle melodies from Croquet Club, Ryan Davis and Cubicolor, before trippy contributions from Dave DK and Maribou State blend darker atmospherics with warm lush melodies from Matthias Vogt, Dusky and Lancelot. New additions to the label roster Moon Boots and Way Out West lead us through mesmeric textures and hands-in-the-air moments to a fitting finale - Global Communication's first new material in 18 years. 30 Issue 79 / 2015 HOUSE/ tEcHnO guestlist.net Different Beat EP Volkoder, Lee Foss chrysalism Rodriguez Jr. turn the Atoms Carlos Manaca Wildest thing Booka Shade One time Game Jamie Jones, Kate Simko, Jem Cooke Leaving the comfort Zone EP Andre Lodemann Golf clap Presents Simma Black Vol.5 Various Artists Eton Messy compilation Various Artists cocoon compilation O Various Artists Someone Like You Nicole Moudaber, Skin Virgo Alex Niggemann, Fur Coat casablanca Sessions Kool D neW releases More @ guestlist.net/house If there's one thing to be said about Icarus, it's that they never do the obvious; they are unfraid to explore darker atmospheres and dive into more progressive realms but there's always something fresh at the heart of their work. That's particularly true of 'Ride This Train', which re-contextualises Aniff Akinola vocals taken from Iron Weed Project's country-blues track 'Down To My Grave' into a deceptively infectious club track. That head-nodding impulse is taken to new levels with a low end brass hook that's sure to weave its way into your brain.
