ordinator at Auburn
under former Purdue
coach Nell Fortner.
But getting back
to Purdue is a dream
realized.
"I gave that senior
year speech in '02 and
I said 'I'll be back. I'll be
back one day, I don't
know how or when,
but I'll be back,' " said Komara, the
1998 Indiana Miss Basketball from
Lake Central in Schererville, Ind.
"And this is a dream come
true for me today."
One of the grittiest players
in Purdue's history, Komara was
a three-time All-Big Ten honoree,
including on the first team and
All-Defensive squads as a senior in
2002. She was also the Most Out-
standing Player of the 2001 NCAA
Regionals.
Versyp interviewed several
for the job via telephone, and
saw three for more personal inter-
views, but it was Komara who rose
to the top.
"I want somebody that bleeds
black and gold," Versyp said. "I
want some loyalty. I want some-
body that understands that this
is one of the top programs in the
country and bleeds it every single
day when they're here."

Longtime assistant
coach Nadine Morgan
has received a promo-
tion, as Versyp's top
advisor was named as-
sociate head coach.
Versyp and Mor-
gan have coached
together for nine
seasons, the last
eight at Purdue
and one season at
Indiana.
"It's so well
deserved," Versyp
said a few days af-
ter the announce-
ment on April
22. "Hats off to
her and her hard
work. She's in on
all the meetings I
have, for the most
part, because I'm
trying to prepare
her to be a head
coach. I don't
want to lose her,
but that's the pro-
gression. She de-
serves it and she'll
continue to learn
and I'll continue
to learn from her."
