GoldanDBlack express • volume 24, express 28 • 10 has made a series of moves highlighting the conference's increased presence on the East Coast. The Terrapins and Scarlet Knights will officially join the Big Ten on July 1. Though athletic director Morgan Burke said he's not sure he'd like the con- ference to play the tournament in D.C. every year, he likes the idea of a one-year relocation. "If you look at our demograph- ics within the conference, all of us have large populations," Burke said. "We played in the Verizon Center a few years ago (in the NCAA Tour- nament), and we had a huge turn- out. The pep rally was jammed. So you're bringing a game to people who can't see it otherwise. So I don't think that's all bad." Chicago's United Center will host the conference tournament for the ninth time in 2015, and Bankers Life Fieldhouse in India- napolis gets it in 2016. ANOTHER TOURNAMENT In 2015, the Big Ten will start an official rivalry with the Big East Conference with the Gavitt Tipoff Games, a similar setup to the Big Ten's existing annual tournament with the ACC. Not every Big Ten team will play yearly against the Big East, though, in the new tournament. But all of them will get their chances — the tourna- ment agreement spans through 2022. The format will feature four home games for selected Big Ten and Big East schools each season. Big East teams will participate a minimum of six times over the eight years, while the Big Ten teams will play a minimum of four. TERRUSO HONORED After 10 seasons as the video coor- dinator for the Purdue men's basketball team, Nick Terruso was honored by the Collegiate Sports Video Association as "Basketball Video Coordinator of the Year." Terruso earned the award after a majority vote by his peers. He was also named a finalist for the Bob Matey Nation- al Video Coordinator-of-the-Year Award, won Thursday night by Maryland's William Brown. In addition to helping coaches break down games, practice and opponent films, Terruso also coordinates film ex- change with other schools, tapes games from TV and satellite and assists with team videos and projects. j Tom Campbell In last season's Big Ten/ACC Challenge game, the Boilermakers cruised to an 88-67 victory over Boston College.
