GOLDANDBLACK EXPRESS • VOLUME 25, EXPRESS 7 • 8 P U R D U E V S . I L L I N O I S P H O T O G A L L E R Y Sinz presented Hazell with a game ball in the locker room after the win. It was Purdue's fourth win in Memorial Stadium since 2004. On the last play of the third quarter, Keyante Green broke a tackle to reel off a 53-yard run. It set up Purdue's final touchdown of the game. One of the turning points of the game came with 10:50 left in the third quarter when linebacker Jimmy Herman (29) scooped up a Josh Ferguson fumble, thwarting an Illinois' scoring chance. The play ini- tially was ruled an incomplete pass. Two plays later, Appleby connected with Danny Anthrop for an 80-yard scoring strike. Appleby didn't let go of the game ball after Purdue's final kneel down and took the ball home. He earned it. Appleby's 76 yards rushing were the most by a Boilermaker quarterback in a single game since Rob Henry had 132 in a win at Northwestern in 2010. Coincidentally, it was Henry's first start as a Boilermaker quarterback.
