VOLUME 26, ISSUE 1 77 happen this fall, and raising and al- locating the funds necessary to see the work to completion. In terms of where the facility will be located, the plan, at least has it stands now, is to attach a T-shaped facility to Mollenkopf at the north and east side of the building. There is ample room between the current Mollenkopf building and the out- door football practice fields. While initial diagrams are not complete, thoughts are the building will run east and west from the Mollenkopf to near Northwestern Avenue and will "T" north and south adja- cent to the east side of the current facility. Officials are still costing out the proj- ect, which will likely be somewhere north of eight figures be- fore it is all said and done. Privitera, who has worked on sever- al projects similar to what Purdue is con- sidering, gives one caveat. "In terms of dol- lars spent, compar- ing projects between schools are like com- paring apples and or- anges to a great extent," said Pri- vitera, who is based out of Kansas City. "Purdue is fortunate it doesn't have to do anything to the indoor playing surface, where Northwest- ern (for example) has to built a new one because the one it has isn't sufficient. There are different needs at different schools, so that is why it is hard to stack them up against one another. "The Purdue folks are cautious and smart. They will make this state-of-the-art without going over the top." Initial plans were shared with some key former Boilermaker play- ers, including Drew Brees, who attended the "Top Gun Summit" in San Diego in June. Pete Quinn was one of 11 former players invit- ed to the event, hosted by Brees and joined by Houston Texans GM Rick Populous A dramatic entrance to Purdue football's facility could be similar to this one constructed at Con- necticut recently.
