But the coach will be the first one to say that some of this higher-level talent needs to commit in the hopes of garner- ing that all-important thing in recruiting: momentum. As we all know in recruiting, second place counts for little. In terms of getting fans and alums behind the football program in droves, it comes down to winning to be sure. Yet, fortunes can turn positive before that happens if fans connect and subsequently believe in the coach. They just need tangible evidence things will eventually get there. Connecting, truly connecting, has never been more challenging. j The First Look: Pictures Cover Story: Spring Overview Q&A: Darrell Hazell From Brian Neubert Gallery: Spring game Football feature: Frankie Williams Football feature: Justin Sinz Football's 20-hour rule Q&A: John Shoop Q&A: Greg Hudson Depth Chart Football recruiting NFL Boilers Triple XXX feature: Ryan Kerrigan National Football Foundation John Purdue Club report Men's basketball: Look ahead Men's basketball: Lineups Men's recruiting feature: P.J.
