and blasted them with mail, in at least one case up to a
dozen letters in a day, all of various colors and formats.
On campus, Purdue's practically turned its offices into
a football amusement park visually and has certainly
made uniform decisions — read: black helmets — with
at least some eye on recruiting.
"We're trying to make it en vogue being a Boilermaker
football player," Hazell said.
Is it working?
Seems like it.
To date for the 2015 class, Purdue has only one verbal
commitment, but it's a big one, coming from nationally
ranked Kentucky quarterback Elijah Sindelar, who was
drawn to the university's engineering program.
But the response the Boilermaker coaching staff has
gotten, as evidenced by the volume of quality visitors it
attracted to campus this winter and spring, would seem
positive, more so when you consider how much the on-
field product has left to prove after a difficult 1-11 2013
season.
Those visits have been pivotal starting points for Pur-
due with those players it's targeted in the rising senior
class.
"Purdue is a great place, a neat place, but if you never
get here, you don't know that," Hazell said. "And when
you get them up (in the football offices) it's a wow factor,
it really is. You walk them around here, and it's 'Wow, we
know what this is about.' So if we can get them here, it'll
give us a chance to get in the ball game."

targets Cam Ordway (poster) and Brandon Knight (letters)
received from the Boilermaker coaching staff.
