For Military Appreciation Day against
Iowa, the pride of carrying the American
Flag onto the Ross-Ade Stadium
surface is evident on the face of walk-
on defensive tackle Chuck Ayres. The
Boilermakers wore special helmet
decals for the event, too.
It wasn't often that members
of the Gold team were able
to elude Ryan Russell as he
had 11 tackles in the game.
But Akeem Hunt showcased
his versatility as both a
runner and slot receiver in
the contest, gaining 127 total
yards, to cap an impressive
spring. Hunt had only a
handful of mental errors at
both positions, Coach Darrell
Hazell said.
