anytime soon."
ENEKWECHI LEADS
MEN AT BIG TEN
CHAMPIONSHIPS
The Purdue men finished
just 11th at the Big Ten Champi-
onships, a number Greene guar-
anteed would have been higher
had Raheem Mostert competed.
Mostert, who won titles in
the 60-meter dash and 200-me-
ter dash at the event last year,
decided to focus his attention on
preparing for the NFL this spring.
"We thought we would have
Raheem," Greene said. "With
him, we're fifth overall because
he's 20 points. Nothing is guar-
anteed but he's head over heels
better than everyone else in this
league. It is what it is. We'll cor-
rect those issues on the men's
side going forward."
Chuk Enekwechi carried the
Boilermakers, scoring 16 of the
team's 37 points. He took second
in the weight throw 23.61m (77-
5.50) and shot put 18.84m (61-
9.75) to give him 37 points for
his career at the Big Ten Indoor
Championships.
"Chuk's a warrior," Greene
said. "Chuk's got a little twinge
in his knee but he was still able
to stand in the gap and cover
for us. What he did was huge.
To go second in shot, second in
the weight … just the way he
competed without being 100
percent."
Next up for Enekwechi is the
NCAA Championships on March
13, where Enekwechi currently
stands as the No. 2 seed in the
weight throw (24.39m), behind
NCAA record holder Michael Li
-
hrman from Wisconsin (24.91m).
"What we have to do be-
tween now and
then is get him
pain-free," Greene
said.
