Gold and Black Illustrated at 25
As we celebrate our 25th year of publishing Gold and Black Illustrated, we look back at memo-
rable covers while reflecting what was going on at the time.
It was all smiles after a succession plan was announced indicating that Coach Joe Tiller would
finish his 12th season as the Boilermaker boss for the 2008 season and his former offensive line coach
Danny Hope would take over immediately after.
The announcement ended a week of speculation of candi-
dates ranging from Wisconsin's offensive coordinator Paul Chryst
to Boilermakers' defensive coordinator Brock Spack.
In the end, it was Hope's head coaching experience at East-
ern Kentucky that put him over the top to become the Boiler-
makers' 34th head coach.
After the Jan. 11, 2008 press conference, Tiller and Hope
posed in front of the mural in the recruiting room in Ross-Ade
Stadium for the cover shot.
