holds, we could be looking at a new fastest
miler in Purdue history and a kid who comes
close to qualifying for the national champi-
onships in the mile even though his specialty
is the steeplechase," Greene said. "He's strong,
he's fit and he's getting to the point that he
can run like a middle distance runner."
Greene feels even better about the
team's performance Saturday considering
some of the individuals who didn't perform.
Raheem Mostert, the defending Big Ten
champion in the 60m dash and 100m dash, sat
out Saturday's meet, along with fellow football
players Anthony Brown and Gregory Phillips.
Mostert's eligibility is up in football, but Brown
and Phillips still are part of the team.
Additionally, highly touted high jumper
Miles Poullard, a community college mid-
year transfer who has cleared 7-feet, 2-inch
-
es, is expected to arrive on campus this week.
"We still have a few pieces to plug into
the equation that we have not unleashed,
the likes of Raheem and some others indi-
viduals we sat down," Greene said. "Once we
unleash them, I think we will make a state-
ment. All of those pieces have still yet to be
put into place.
"That makes it exciting."
The track program has made significant
strides since Greene arrived in 2012.
Nine school records were broken during
the indoor season in 2014, while the men's
and women's teams each placed fifth at the
outdoor Big Ten Championships after finish
-
ing last the year before Greene arrived.
"Coach Greene lets us know that it's just
as much our team as it is his team," Enekwe-
chi said. "He lets us know exactly what the
goals are and puts numbers on them so it
makes the goals realistic and what we have
to do to get to those goals.
"He's changed the culture and has held
us accountable to what we have to do at
each stage. He approaches it like any other
sport where he has a gameplan for every sin-
gle meet and that's something different that
I've seen that I think has improved the team.""
With a deep and talented lineup with
postseason experience, Greene said he is
ready for Purdue to take another leap in 2015.
"We will continue to be relevant in the
country and in the Big Ten if we have any-
thing to say and do about it," Greene said. "If
we can stay healthy, I think we'll have some-
thing to say when it really counts down the
stretch."
