GOLDANDBLACK EXPRESS • VOLUME 25, EXPRESS 16 • 25 BY STACY CLARDIE SClardie@GoldandBlack.com A keem Hunt rushed for 30 yards in his National team's 26-14 victory over the American team in the Medal of Honor Bowl Saturday in South Carolina. Hunt was the team's second- leading rusher, getting seven car- ry's to the No. 1 runner's (Brandon Wegher of Morningside) 14 for 90 yards. Hunt's long run of the game was an 18-yarder. "It was a big honor compet- ing in the Medal of Honor Bowl game," Hunt tweeted. "I loved every min(ute) of it. … Met great players along the way!! I love winning!!!" The other former Boilermaker competing in a post season all-star game is Ryan Russell, who will play in the East-West Shrine Game Sat- urday in St. Petersburg, Fla. Russell is one of nine defensive linemen on the West team. DOUBLE AGENT Sophomore defensive end Gelen Robinson has joined the wrestling program, but he'll still participate in all of football's off- season activities, Coach Darrell Ha- zell said through sports informa- tion director Matt Rector. Robinson didn't lose a single match as a wrestler in his final two high school seasons at Lake Cen- tral, winning state championships at 220 pounds. He was 101-0 in those two seasons. As a sopho- more, he was 47-5 and finished third at the state meet. For Purdue, Robinson is listed in the 285-pound weight class. He was listed at 239 pounds during the football season. While Robinson is the first foot- ball player of signficance to wrestle in recent memory, a two-sport stint is nothing new for a football player. Raheem Mostert, Anthony Brown and Shane Mikesky, among others, have been on the track team in re- cent years. GOLF OUTING SET The Mollenkopf/Keyes Classic, an 18-hole best-ball scramble, is Feb 13 at the Quail West Golf and Country Club in Naples, Fla. Golfing begins at 12:30, and a tailgate program will start about 6 p.m. Reservations for the tourna- ment still are being taken — they will be through Feb. 2 — and it's open to all Purdue fans, though pri- ority will be given to current John Purdue Club members. It's $275 per person for golf and the tailgate. Tailgate only is $60. Register by calling the JPC at 800- 213-2239. The event raises money for scholarships. Hazell, Morgan Burke, Leroy Keyes and former Boilermaker Niko Koutouvides are expected to be in at - tendance. The night before the event, there will be a men's basketball viewing party for the game against Rutgers at 7 p.m. RUNNER-UP Former Boilermak- er linebacker and coor- dinator Brock Spack's Illinois State team had a monster comebacker in the FCS championship in Texas, but the Redbirds couldn't hold on for the title. North Dakota State scored a touchdown in the final minute to earn a 29-27 victory.
