You must be quite honoured to have the Balance series offered to you, did you know what you wanted to do straight away? It was definitely a challenge, you have something in your mind and then it turns out to be something completely different, it depends on so many different factors, what kind of music you select, what kind of music you get from people and the kind of music you can licence. In the end you don't really know what tracks actually will make it to the CD in the end. I wanted to work with the music I play and produce but I also want to make sure but I didn't mix it up so much, so there weren't so many obvious transitions. I've not had a fluid mix coming from Electronica to Deep House to Techno in 75 minutes, it was very important to have a specific mood transported throughout the whole mix And you're totally happy with the final result? Oh yeah I'm definitely happy with it, I listened to it during mixing, while selecting and also afterwards checking if there was something that I wasn't happy with. I still listen to it when I go to the gym on my headphones. So when you perform, do you DJ with that same way of thinking, to take people on a journey? As some DJs just chop and change genre with no fluidity? If you listen to my sets on Soundcloud or if you've ever heard me DJ before I try and make the transitions not too obvious every time I play, it's all about the mood. Are you just playing via digital setup with CDJs, Vinyl or a mix of both? Recently I have been playing vinyl a lot, Last week I went to my local record dealer and he hadn't seen me for years. I've been to the record stores twice already this week and I'm really interested in playing vinyl again. Its breaking the routine of playing digital music, I started playing vinyl years ago, its how I learnt to mix and I was really missing the physical connection. Although it's pretty easy working with USB sticks and scrolling through, I miss that feeling and connection to see the cover and get the association to the music. it's all about the feeling. Sometimes I don't remember a track I want to play during my set because I have so much music.Scrolling and scrolling searching for music can disconnect you from the crowd, but I don't get that when I play vinyl I remember the cover and remember the sleeves. Recently Space closed, Fabric is closed and they're fighting to re-open. Even most Amnesia lost its late licence for the closing parties in Ibiza. Berlin fully supports its clubbing culture which at the moment is the opposite to London, whats your views on clubbing at the moment? In Berlin they have to support clubbing culture otherwise there will be a lot of money lost for the government, its probably the main reason why the government supports nightlife in Germany. There are so many people that come to Berlin to party, Lets say 50% of the young people that come to Berlin come to club and party, so if they don't support the clubs then there will be be 50% less revenue. Berlin is also a tourist hot spot and artistic City. It's great the way that Germany has nurtured and protected the scene, the origins of Techno come from Detroit but Germany has really nurtured it. Obviously their will be new clubs but its really scary whats happening in London. Everyone knows about my views on Fabric I was super frustrated & really bothered by the way it was done, politics and politicians try and cover up and try to find a reason to close Fabric. This has been happening for years and it's been a long hard fight. It seems to me that these tragic deaths of these people are being used and abused for ulterior motives you can also see how the hearing went at the court that there was no chance of getting out of it I feel that the hearing was worth anything because they already made their decision fabric is the Berghain of London is a cold sore an institution and you won't solve the drug problem of London by closing one of its best clubs what you want the people to do truck in the street and more violence in the Streets? If you opened up a club yourself what would make you a club stand out more than any other club? That's a good question I would make sure that the club it's just about the music the point is well I started raising back in the day it was different you know about the details slang but it was more about people dancing and shining Souls instead of people going for the dj is standing for the dj and just staring at the dj I would probably have a concept where you don't see the dj and everyone just listen to Good Music. What else have you got going on in the near future As I said there'll be a single or an ep that comes with the balance cd or maybe two weeks later which is actually totally different music is more of an ex electronic vibe with vocals something that people think maybe it unexpected. I will also be playing @ Anomalia which is a brand new and exciting conceptual event launching on the 25th of November at The Steelyard in London. I will be playing alongside Fur Coat and Somne. Then I have another Aeon. release what's the time in January/February. Above all I will be happy to get back in the studio and put my head down in mid November.
