54 ISSUE 92 / 2016 REGGAE TRACK OF THE MONTH: BEATMASTA - DUB FOUNDATION After May 2015's world premiere, Birmingham will be premiering it in Britain. The masta of breaks and bass turns his head to dub. A producer who dabbles in all kinds of genres has churned out a beefy dub record. A simply perfect bassline rumbles through with perfect drum patterns. It's a blissful track with a sick sample added some vocal flavour to the mix. The vibes run deep and uninterrupted as Beatmasta swaps his usual upbeat style for a much more relaxed one. He pulls it off incredible, so put your feet up, light it up and chill! The musical, based on the life and works of the legend, Bob Marley, is opening at the Birmingham Repertory Theatre in March 2017. It tells the story of a young man starting out and follows until he's a global star. The musical gets into detail about his life and features incredible performances of some of Marley's best tracks including No Women No Cry and Jammin'. The show, written and directed by Kwame Kwei- Armah is opening on March 10th and will run until April 8th. NEWS: ONE LOVE: THE BOB MARLEY MUSICAL IS COMING TO THE UK ALBUM OF THE MONTH: GIANT PANDA GUERILLA DUB SQUAD The bands 6th album has finally landed. Flying straight in at number 1 on Billboards reggae chart - the Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad follow on from their previous successes with their next album, Make It Batter. The 5 piece band have produced 10 laid back records, artistically forming a unique body of work that everybody can find funk and joy in. They blend a variety of instruments and clever vocals to make every track stand out in your mind, making this album an incredible listen. The band formed in Rochester, New York in 2001 and have blown away listens ever since with their distinctive style blending classic reggae beats and rhythms with jamband aesthetics. Their last album, Steady, blew up in the scene and gathered huge support from across the board. With their latest album they have proved themselves once more with another beautiful piece of work.
