8 ISSUE 92 / 2016 GUESTLIST The pioneering two stage 'kick and kill' therapy may have eradicated the virus. BREAKTHROUGH TREATMENT MAY HAVE CURED A BRITISH MAN OF HIV A 44 year old British man was treated with new therapy to rid the body of the virus. After the treatment tests were unable to detect the virus in his blood, though researchers are cautious of the results as it's to early to tell if it has really worked. The man was the first of 50 people who complete a trail of the new treatment. The therapy is unique as it tracks down and destroys HIV in all parts of the body including the dormant cells that current treatment tackle. The trails are a collobartion between doctors and scientists at the universities of Cambridge, Imperial College London, Oxford, University College London and King's College London. Scheduled for November 28th, Fabric will head to Highbury Magistrates Court and try to overturn Islington Council's shocking decision to close the venue. The date was announced in Fabric's second transparency statement that also revealed over £250,000 has been raised to help the fight for the cause. In the statement they lay out their plan; 'We have been very busy working on our twin objectives, the appeal against the revocation of the license and the need to change the Guidance under the Licensing Act'. To do these they have sorted a legal team headed by Philip Kolvin QQ with assistance from leading licensing solicitors Woods Whur. They are not holding back on this fight with a 1st draft of their request to change the Licensing Act already sent out 'to a number of trade and music industry organisations and associations to seek their opinion, advice and support'. Beefing up the donations is a host of events in London and beyond. As they said, the show must go on and it certainly isn't stopping Fabric and it's parties from taking place. The Farringdon club has got the date their appeal begins as the donations continue to pour in. FABRIC'S COURT APPEAL DATE SET FOR NOVEMBER FEATURE We've all had that feeling that we're taking on a whole lot of new information and whilst it may be easy enough to take in initially, coming back and actually using it is a whole different question. When you rake in information that you want to remember, you're aiming to transfer that information from your short term memory to your long term memory. Over 60% of the information we take in is forgotten within 9 hours of learning it so how can you change this? Anything we read, see or hear enters our brain through senses and is recorded by our 'sensory memory', which alerts us to the fact that something has just been registered. At this point you need to focus, surprise surprise! Improve your attention and focus when taking in the information. Get rid of distractions, make sure you're fed, well rested and generally feeling good. Make connections with things you already know. If you can connect new pieces of knowledge with information you've learnt before, this will help you hold on to that new piece of wisdom and cement it in your memory. Last and most importantly, it's all about practice. Use the things you want to remember straight away. Whether it's a piece of advice or a quote you want to hold on to, start working it into your life straight away and keep using it until it becomes second nature. HOW CAN YOU IMPROVE YOUR MEMORY?
